Meeting Minutes 11/10/2009

  • The Mortar Board Honorary Tailgate is Saturday, Nov. 14th at 9:30 am in lot #184 on the west side. Chimes members are not required to attend. However, if you would like to attend, it is requested that you bring a donation to First Book, Mortar Board's National Philanthropy.
  • The Chimes T-shirt payment of $9.75 is due if you ordered a shirt. You will be notified when the shirts are in. They will be available for pick up in Annie Oliver's office in the OSAS office in the K-State Student Union.
  • Those volunteering for the Bramlage clean-up should meet at the top of section 21 near the SE entrance no later than 5:20pm on Sunday, Nov. 15th. Please wear closed toed shoes.
  • Douglas tutoring volunteering is available as usual on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays
  • There are two December service projects. Chimes members are required to participate in one of the following 1.) Caffeine Fix- in the Hemisphere Room on the 5th floor of Hale Library. Volunteers are needed to help re-stock food and drinks from 9pm-midnight on Tuesday, Dec. 15th. You can sign up for a 1 hour slot or more. E-mail Tara Coleman at tcole2@k-state.edu if you want to help. 2.) Christmas Caroling- at Meadow Lark Hills nursing home, Dec. 13th, time TBA
  • For K-State Proud award information go to http://www.k-stateproud.org/. This year's version of the K-State Proud shirt is purple and will be available shortly before the Feb. 27th, 2010 game with a donation of $10.

  • Our next Chimes meeting will be in the Groesbeck Room at the Manhattan Public Library at 6:30 on Tuesday, December 1st!! The theme is tacky Christmas, wear your tacky Christmas clothes and bring card making materials for Christmas cards to be handed out while caroling!

Meeting Minutes 10/27/2009

  • Meetings will be held in the Groesbeck room at the Manhattan Public Library from now on
  • For our November service project we will be helping with the K-State Fair Trade marketplace on November 18th and 19th in the K-State Student Union courtyard. Each member should go to the website to sign up for a time that fits in to your schedule on one of those days. Please go to http://ksufairtrademarketplace.pbworks.com, find a time that works for you, and then send a message to fairtrade@tryufm.org with your name, email, phone number and time slot. Please also let Carolyn (cfreeman@k-state.edu) know what time you will be working. This is a required service event.
  • There is potential for an Adopt-a-Family opportunity coming up
  • We have finalized the t-shirt design. The shirts will be blue with "Chimes Honorary 09-10" in yellow text with an image of a bell with a powercat. If you do not want a t-shirt please email cdot@ksu.edu by 12 pm Wednesday 11/4/09 or else you will be ordered a shirt in the size specified on the contact sheet. The shirts are $9.75 and each member is encouraged to get one to help promote Chimes on campus.
  • The Chimes organization at Ohio State has contacted us and would like to set up a pen pal system with our K-State members
  • Douglas tutoring sign ups are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, 5-6 and 6-7 for those who are interested in volunteering
  • Membership fees are past due!! If you have not paid yet, please give your $35 dues to Lizbeth. Checks can be made out to Chimes.
  • Our first date for Bramlage Clean Up is Sunday November 15th after the Mens Basketball game, which will end at about 5:30pm. It should not take more than 2 hours and we need at least 10 members there. E-mail Casandra Robinson to volunteer at cjr2@ksu.edu
  • Spooktacular was very successful. Thank you to those who volunteered.
  • There is a scholarship informational meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 3rd, from 3:30-4:30 in the Union Ballroom
  • We are going to set up a facebook group for Chimes members to post comments and invite people to "be fans" of Chimes
  • Carrie will be attending the Blue Key leadership appreciation event on Tuesday, Nov 10th, on behalf of Chimes
  • Please send any pictures to Cameron (cpiercy@ksu.edu) to be posted on our website/facebook group
  • The All Honor Society Tailgate will be on Saturday, Nov 14th, time and location TBA
  • Next meeting is Tuesday, November 9th, at 7:00 at the Manhattan Public Library. See you there!

Meeting Minutes 10/13/2009

  • Douglas Tutoring sign up passed around, email Carrie if you have questions about it or call the tutoring center
  • Alan Winter elected Vice President
  • We will be meeting at Hale again for our next meeting, but looking at Manhattan Public Library as a possible permanent meeting place.
  • Voted on T-Shirt design, we will have royal blue t-shirts with yellow distressed font
  • Bramlage Clean Up opportunities to fundraise for scholarships will be known soon
  • We will brainstorm for the Nov. service project next meeting
  • E-mail Monica if you're going to miss a meeting
  • Membership dues ($35), checks made out to ChimesService, give to Lizbeth
  • SPOOKtacular volunteer opportunities on Oct 23, 24, and 25, required for all members!You should receive a confirmation email if you've volunteered by the end of the week or early next week. Email Carolyn at cfreeman@ksu.edu if you can't volunteer or to sign up!

Meeting Minutes 9/29/09

  • Attendance policy review- Attendance to all meetings, service, and social events is required. If you are going to be absent due to another school conflict, (such as an overlapping class, test, etc.) send excuses to Monica at klawuhnm@ksu.edu. If you do not uphold the attendance requirements as stated in the Chimes constitution, removal from the organization may occur.
  • Location change- Meetings are now going to be held in Hale Library
  • If you have not already signed up for a service month, you will be assigned to one.
  • Committees will be formed next meeting to meet the requirements for non-officer positions in Chimes
  • Nominations are being taken for the current vice president position. The vice president will become president next semester when Carrie is studying abroad. A new vice president for the spring semester will need to be appointed. If you are interested in these office positions, please contact Carrie at cdot@ksu.edu.
  • Chimes Goals Review- The goals of the organization are to increase awareness of Chimes throughout the K-State and Manhattan community, to give out either more scholarships or larger amounts, to successfully transition next year's Chimes members by imparting a clear sense of direction, to create new binders for future officers, and to promote the values of scholarship, leadership, and service.
  • Agenda Policy- If you want to be on the meeting agenda, please e-mail Carrie by 3pm the Monday before the meeting at cdot@ksu.edu
  • Scholarship Opportunity-There are two $500 Mortar Board scholarships available to current Juniors at K-State
  • There will be an Honorary Tailgate for the Honorary organizations on campus before the K-State football game on Sat. November. Time and location to be announced.
  • If you need to send something to the Chimes members or officers over the listserv, please send it to Monica at klawuhnm@ksu.edu
  • Dues: $35 to Lizbeth, checks can be made out Chimes
  • The October Service project will be the Spooktacular at Sunset Zoo on October 24 and 25. The theme is Legends and Fairytales. Please sign up for one of shifts on either day. The shifts are from 11:15-2:15, 2-5, or 5:15-clean up. Contact Carolyn or Alan.
  • Fundraising ideas include Bramlage clean up
  • The K-State blood drive is Oct. 6-9, give blood and save a life
  • There is a social event in the works, ideas are corn maze/pumpkin picking and bowling
  • We are going to be making Chimes t-shirts for all members to wear on campus to promote the organization, ideas/designs can be submitted
  • Next meeting is Tuesday, Oct. 13 at Hale Library!

Meeting Minutes 9/15/09

  • Apply to be a K-State Ambassador! Applications are available at www.k-state.com/studentambassadors and are due Sept. 23. Online voting takes place Oct. 22
  • Suggestions for social activities are being taken
  • There are committee sign up sheets for service/activity volunteering for the months of Oct, Nov, and Jan-May. Please make sure to sign up.
  • If you would like to be on the Family Day application revisal committee, please notify the Family of the Year/Family Day officers.
  • $35 Membership fees are past due. If you have not paid, please give money to Lizbeth. Checks can be made out to Chimes Junior Honorary.
  • If you have attendance conflicts, please notify only Monica at klawuhnm@ksu.edu
  • Family Day Brunch to be held 9/26/09 honoring the Moore family as the K-State Family of the Year. Dress is business casual.

  • An informational meeting for all current Chimes members regarding future Chimes members selections and transitions will be held Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

Meeting Minutes 9/01/09

  • Volunteer Opportunity: September 19, 7:00-9:00 am, Cross Country set-up, 15-20 parking/registration volunteers needed. Contact Alan to volunteer by Wed, Sept 9th.
  • The Family of the Year application has been e-mailed to all members. Please pass it on to anyone you think would want to nominate a K-State proud family.   • Family Day invitations have been mailed to Chimes family members. Family Day is September 26 and the Family of the Year Brunch starts at 9:00am in the Bluemont Room of the Student Union.
  • The next meeting is September 15, 7:00pm at Radina's. We will be discussing October volunteer ideas and will also be taking a group photo.
